Stipend Guidelines

Sonoma County public school teachers, counselors, and paraprofessionals are eligible to receive a $500 stipend for post-Institute work related to their learning from the Summer Institute. See below for information on how the stipend can be earned.

Stipend Option 1: Develop a New Project or Classroom Routine

Develop a new project or classroom routine based on something you learned during the 2021 SCOE Summer Institute. Implement the project or new routine in your instruction and collect evidence of student impact. By December 3, 2021, send the following documentation to Amanda Snook at asnook@scoe.org:

  • Provide a brief narrative description of the project/routine. This overview of the project or routine should offer another educator a strong understanding of the what, when, where, why & how. In other words, another teacher would be able to review the description and imagine how they might use something similar in their own teaching (500 words or less)

  • Provide documentation of the new project or routine's implementation with students (resources, templates or protocols developed; photos; student work samples; a short video, etc.).

Stipend Option 2: Collaborate with Colleagues

Design a schedule for extended contract collaboration and planning time with 1 or more colleagues. Collaboration could include colleagues from the same school site, the same district, or even role-alike colleagues from different Sonoma County districts. Communicate your extended contract collaboration and planning schedule with your site/district administrator. Provide evidence of the resources or outcomes developed during the extended contract collaboration time. By December 3, 2021 send the following documentation to Amanda Snook at asnook@scoe.org:

  • Provide a brief narrative description of the purpose or goal(s) and outcomes of the extended contract collaboration time. This overview of the goals and outcomes should offer another educator a strong understanding of who collaborated together, when the planning team met, and what student learning need(s) were addressed as an outcome of the collaboration. (500 words or less)

  • Indicate how the collaboration was influenced by your learning during the 2021 SCOE Summer Institute.

  • If the collaboration time results in new projects, classroom routines, or school-wide practices, provide documentation of implementation with staff and/or students (photos, student work samples, a short video, etc.).

Stipend Payment Procedures

A stipend of $500.00 will be paid for Sonoma County teachers, counselors, and paraprofessionals who complete the requirements for one of the two options above by December 3, 2021. Once completion of the requirements has been confirmed, the stipend will be paid by SCOE to the district that employs the educator. Districts will then pay the stipend to employees through payroll.
